Aizu Matsumoto Touzai Kan
Aizu Matsumoto displays and sells Aizu paulownia chest of drawers which is a traditional industrial craft, British furniture and small articles.
As Aizu produces good Paulownia, Aizu Matsumoto has been making Aizu paulownia chest of drawers for 60 years in 3 generations. Our artisans finish up each piece of Aizu paulownia chest of drawers, Aizu’s traditional industrial craft furniture with certain quality, by hand. Aizu Matsumoto Touzai Kan is a main shop, and it is located on “Inishie Yumekaido” Street, which connects Higashiyama Hot Springs and Mt. Iimori known for Byakkotai. The shop’s building was originally a farmer’s house for silk-farming, and a gorgeous Meiji construction. It was moved and reconstructed with with a western design. Aizu paulownia chest of drawers, exotic articles, pottery and national costumes are on display and sale. Visitors can enjoy coffee and herbal tea at a cafe inside of the shop.
