Rinkaku - Japanese Tea House

An honored tea house built for the son of the Japanese tea master, Sen no Rikyu

The lord of Aizu Ujisato Gamo invited Shoan Sen, son of his tea ceremony mentor, Sen no Rikyu (a famous Japanese tea ceremony master). He built Rinkaku to popularize tea ceremony in Aizu, after Rikyu committed ritual suicide. The tea house was moved to the grounds of a tea school when Tsurugajo castle was demolished in 1874, but it was returned to the castle in 1990. Visitors can enjoy green tea while enjoying the view of the beautiful garden.
