2023.04.07 Tea house
It takes several hours to fully explore the castle and grounds. The Rinkaku Tea House, which sits within Tsuruga Castle Park, is an ideal place to take a break and enjoy a cup of green tea while contemplating the attractive tea garden. Rinkaku was originally built at the request of daimyo lord Gamo Ujisato (1556–1595), who had a keen interest in tea gatherings (chanoyu) and wanted to bring the practice to Aizu. He invited tea master Sen Shoan (1546–1614), son of influential tea master Sen no Rikyu (1522–1591), to come from Kyoto for this purpose.
